I hate Internet Explorer 6 with a passion. It’s archaic and it makes my blog a pig sty.
Unfortunately I have to use Internet Explorer 6 at work everyday for the many applications that our business uses. There’s been much talk about upgrading the Internet Explorer 7. I can’t see it happening. Two years down the track I can still see us using Windows XP with Internet Explorer 6. It feels like I’m in the dark ages at work. For a computer geek this is extremely frustrating!
I downloaded firefox some time ago to use as a seperate browser on my work computer. I’m actually surprised that I was able to install the application considering I don’t have Administration Access. The only issue I have had since installing Firefox is that I could not download and install flash player due to the lack of Admin Access.
Grudgingly I’ve had to view youtube and flash enabled websites in IE6. Very slow and painful for me. Until now.
Today I found a fantastic work around to enable flash in Firefox without Administration Access from varesano.net.
It’s very easy. You download a file from withinVaresno’s post, change it to a zip folder, extract two files from the zip folder and copy the files into your plugin folder in Firefox. Restart the browser and “presto” no pop up button asking you to install a plugin. It even worked for my portable firefox.
The bonus for me is that it has also fixed the issues I had with the new version of Wordpress in Firefox. Previously I couldn’t see the Rich Text Editor when posting. Despite re-upgrading it did not fix the issues at work.
I now feel as though I’m somewhere back in the present.

It’s good to see you enjoyed my post! Thanks
It’s come in very handy at work Fabio. Our work still uses IE6 which Youtube won’t support soon, so I’ve been showing workmates how to set Firefox up on their computers.
Yep.. IE 6 it’s still used too much.. I just hope it could die soon
Being a web developer myself I do know how difficult it is develop to let it works on IE 6..
Personally I’m happy to see big sites like YouTube or Twitter skipping support for the browser soon .. only then we will see IE6 disappears.. this will help make better websites and everybody will benefits from a better web.
Thanks and Take Care.
